New Rules For Passengers Travelling To Spain

The Spanish Government have introduced new requirements that mean that from 19th June 2007 before an aircraft leaves the UK the airline will have to provide certain information about all travellers on their aircraft to the Spanish authorities . This information is known as 'Advance Passenger Information' (API) is similar to a system already used by the US authorities for passengers travelling to America.

Data will be collected on behalf of the airline at the airport when you check in, or in some cases in advance when you make your booking and the Spanish authorities will use the information for law enforcement purposes.

The information that the Spanish authorities require is contained on the photograph page of your passport (your full name, date and place of birth and passport number) will apply to all passengers leaving the UK and travelling to Spain, regardless of nationality.
